Conservation
The Conservation Laboratory at Fort Charlotte is open to the public from 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Fridays.
In 2004, the AMMC established its first objects conservation laboratory facility in the Advanced Guard House at the Fort Charlotte complex. The facility was set up to stabilize metal artifacts. Staff carry out electrolysis on metal artifacts particularly cannons, objects rescued from marine sites and other larger metal objects in the collections of the AMMC.
A smaller archaeological conservation laboratory on the Centreville House Compound is used in conjunction with archaeological excavations and field schools.
