Monuments
 
Significant buildings, structures, objects, other works of man and nature, above and below the surface of the land and sea classify as monuments.  The process of gazetting these features is of major importance to the AMMC.  An impressive collection of obelisks, statues, art forms, tombstones, and caves abound in The Bahamas including:
  • the Water Tower,
  • the Queen’s Staircase,
  • Queen Victoria’s Statue,
  • the Bust of Sir Milo Butler, first Bahamian Governor-General,
  • Preachers Cave in Eleuthera,
  • the Blue Holes of Long Island, the Abacos and Andros,
  • Mount Alvernia (Como Hill) the highest point in The Bahamas at Cat Island,
  • the churches of Long Island
