Q: What is the Antiquities, Monuments and Museum Corporation (AMMC)?

A: The AMMC is the nation’s principal heritage conservation agency, committed to the preservation, interpretation and promotion of national monuments, historical sites, artifacts and ecofacts, which acquire national importance, and inspire public interest by reason of their historical, archaeological, anthropological and/or palaeontological significance.


Q: Where is the National Museum of The Bahamas?

A: The National Museum of The Bahamas is the central museum of a national museum system incorporated in the AMMC.  This central museum is in its developmental stage and will feature a premier heritage and cultural exhibition on The Bahamas.

Q: What are the admission fees at the sites? 
 

A: All children 5 years and under are free at all sites of the AMMC

Pompey Museum:  Non-Residents:  Adults $3.00, Seniors $2.00: Residents:  Adults $2.00 children 12 - 6 years $1.00 and children 5 and under free.
Fort Charlotte:  Non-Residents:  Adults $5.00, Seniors $3.00, Children 12 - 6 $2.00; Residents:  Adults $3.00, Seniors $2.00, Children 12 -6 $1.00, all children 5 and under free.
Long Island Museum: Non-Residents: Adults $3.00; Residents: Adults $1.00 and Children 12 – 6 .50c and 5 and under free


Q: Are there research facilities available for students at the AMMC?

A: Presently, there are limited research facilities in the AMMC.  Researchers may have access to the holdings related to Slavery. Special arrangements can be made to view these holdings by contacting the main office at 242-326-2566.


Q: I would like to have my wedding reception at one of your properties, is there someone who can assist me? 

A: Yes, interested persons should contact Mrs. Christine Rolle, Forts Supervisor or one of the Assistant Site Supervisors at the Forts at 242-326-4872.


Q: Can students visit the museums on field trips?

A: Yes, students can visit the museum for field trips please contact the museum directly for assistance.


Q: Are there other museums located in the Family Islands?

A: The AMMC operates the Long Island Museum at Buckley's, Long Island and the San Salvador Museum, there is an office in Marsh Harbour, Abaco and the AMMC is also associated with the South Eluthera Mission.


Q: How can I become a member of the National Museum of The Bahamas and what are the benefits to members?

A: The AMMC is in the process of developing its Membership system.


Q: What kinds of events are hosted on the grounds at Centreville/Collins House?

A: The AMMC hosts special events of the Corporation on the Site, its Christmas Festival of Lights in December is one such event.   The space is available to rent throughout the year. Please contact the Corporate Office.
